A Sept. 25 dedication ceremony will celebrate the completion of UCCS’s newest residence halls, Cucharas and La Plata, and a state-of-the-art dining center, the Roaring Fork.

The event is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. outside La Plata and will include brief remarks by university dignitaries and resident advisers, a photo booth and a special appearance by the UCCS mascot, Clyde.

Following the ceremony, faculty, staff and students will have the opportunity to tour the new residence halls and try samples from the Roaring Fork.

“This is an important step for our campus and a great way to celebrate taking our residential housing to the next level,” Megan Bell, executive director, Auxiliary Community and Learning Initiatives, said. “The Village at Alpine Valley symbolizes the transition of UCCS to a more residential campus that values student’s on-campus living experience.”

Cucharas and La Plata houses include space for 292 students, as well as additional academic programming areas. A second phase, scheduled to open in Aug. 2016, will include space for 223 more students to live. When completed, UCCS will have space for 1,640 students to live on campus.
