More than 1,400 students will move to UCCS residence halls Aug. 18-21.
Showing up as early as 7:30 a.m. on Aug. 18, 1,001 freshman housing students and their families eagerly unloaded vehicles and carried boxes into the campus residence halls, including the latest additions Cucharas and La Plata houses.
“It’s so exciting to see the new housing village and Roaring Fork Dining Hall open,” Megan Bell, executive director, Auxiliary Community and Learning Initiatives, said. “Ralph [Giese, director, Residence Life and Housing] and his entire team have worked tirelessly for move-in. Despite the typical and unexpected challenges that come with opening new buildings, they have remained focused on creating a positive experience of our first-year students, all going above and beyond their job descriptions and willing to do whatever it takes. I am so proud of them, and also thankful to the faculty and staff members who stepped up to help.”
Students living in Crestone and Antero houses, apartment-style complex for upper-level students, will begin moving into their rooms at 9 a.m. Aug. 21.
The housing students are part of a more than 1,700 student freshman class and anticipated largest campus enrollment in UCCS history.
