Photo Feature: UCCS celebrates campus leaders at annual ceremony

2018 campus award recipients

UCCS Chancellor Venkat Reddy recognized the work by campus faculty, staff, students and alumni during the annual award ceremony April 25 in Berger Hall. More than 150 family, friends and colleagues joined the award winners during the event.

The awards, and the recipients, were:

  • Faculty Service Award: Pam Carter, senior instructor, Computer Science Department.
  • Ron Wisner Human Spirit and Leadership Award: Amner Carmona
  • Student Employee of the Year: Agatha Graselia
  • Robert F. McLaughlin Award: Molly Klotz and Colin Prater
  • Student Achievement Award: Nayda Benitez and Justin McConnell
  • Alumni and Friends Award: Stephen Ludwig
  • Faculty Award for Outstanding Contribution to Diversity and Inclusiveness: Kimbra Smith, associate professor and chair, Department of Anthropology
  • Faculty Award for Excellence in Research: Anatoliy Pinchuk, assistant professor, Department of Physics and Energy Science
  • Outstanding Instructor Award: Richard Radabaugh, senior instructor, School of Public Affairs
  • Garrett Swasey Outstanding Staff Award: Phillip Morris, program director, Office of Veteran and Military Student Affairs; and instructor, Department of Leadership, Research and Foundations
  • Outstanding Teacher Award: Carole Woodall, associate professor, Women’s and Ethnic Studies; and associate professor and undergraduate director, History Department
  • Campus Sustainability Award: Joel Tonyan, assistant professor and systems and user experience librarian, Kraemer Family Library
  • Student Government Association Student’s Choice for Educator of the Year: Sabine Allenspach, instructor, Biology Department

Ron Wisner Human Spirit and Leadership Award – Amner Carmona. Making the presentation were members of Ron Wisner’s family
Student Employee of the Year – Agatha Graselia. Making the presentation was Shannon Cable, director, Student Employment.
Robert F. McLaughlin Award – Molly Klotz and Colin Prater. Making the presentation was Nathan Gibson, executive director, Athletics.
Student Achievement Award – Nayda Benitez and Justin McConnell. Making the presentation was Sentwali Bakari, vice chancellor, Student Success.
Alumni and Friends Award – Stephen Ludwig. Making the presentation was Joanna Bean (right), director, Alumni Relations. Joining for the award is Mary Ann Cutter (left), professor, Philosophy Department, and one of Ludwig’s professors when he was at UCCS.
Faculty Award for Outstanding Contribution to Diversity and Inclusiveness – Kimbra Smith, associate professor and chair, Department of Anthropology. Making the presentation was Andrea O’Reilly Herrera, associate vice chancellor, Inclusion and Academic Engagement.
Faculty Award for Excellence in Research – Anatoliy Pinchuk, assistant professor, Physics Department. Making the presentation was Kelli Klebe, associate vice chancellor, Research.
Outstanding Instructor Award – Richard Radabaugh, senior instructor, School of Public Affairs. Making the presentation is Provost Tom Christensen.
Garrett Swasey Outstanding Staff Award – Phillip Morris, program director, Office of Veteran and Military Student Affairs, and instructor, Department of Leadership, Research and Foundations. Making the presentation is Chuck Litchfield, vice chancellor, Administration and Finance.
Outstanding Teacher Award – Carole Woodall, associate professor, Women’s and Ethnic Studies, and associate professor and undergraduate director, History Department. Making the presentation was David Anderson, associate professor and chair, Chemistry and Biochemistry Department.
