New faculty join UCCS

New faculty members from the College of Letters, Arts & Sciences

Nearly 50 new faculty members joined UCCS this fall. Today, meet 10 faculty members from the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, half of the new faculty members within the college.


Headshot of Erica AllgoodErica Allgood, senior instructor, Department of Communication. Allgood previously served as assistant professor and lead faculty at Regis University in Colorado Springs and Denver for 23 years. She was also worked as a teaching assistant at Kent State University.

Allgood earned her bachelor’s degree in communication studies from the University of Pittsburgh, her master’s degree in communication studies from Kent State University and her Ph.D. in education, organizational leadership, from Northcentral University.


Headshot of Dmytro BozhkoDmytro Bozhko, assistant professor, Department of Physics and Energy Science. Bozhko previously served as a postdoctoral researcher in the physics department at TU Kaiserslautern in Germany from 2017 to 2019.

Bozhko earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the radiophysics department at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv in Ukraine, and his Ph.D. from Technische Universität Kaiserslautern in Germany.


Jennifer Clarke was named the SGA Student’s Choice for Educator of the Year in 2013.

Jennifer Clarke, senior instructor, Department of Psychology. Clarke returns to UCCS after serving as a lecturer at Penn State University. She was at UCCS from 2008 through 2017, and was previously an instructor at Pikes Peak Community College, a visiting assistant professor at the University of Kentucky, an assistant professor at the United States Air Force Academy, a lecturer at Colorado State University-Pueblo, an instructor at Greensboro College and a teaching fellow at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Clarke earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Richmond, a bachelor’s degree in psychology from James Madison University, a master’s degree in experimental psychology from East Carolina University and her Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.


Headshot of Aaron CorcoranAaron Corcoran, assistant professor, Department of Biology. Corcoran previously served as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a research assistant professor and postdoctoral fellow at Wake Forest University, and a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Corcoran earned his bachelor’s degree in wildlife at Purdue University, his master’s degree in biology at Humboldt State University and his Ph.D. in biology at Wake Forest University.


Headshot of Donald "Rick" FosterDonald “Rick” Foster, instructor, Department of Political Science. Foster was previously a lecturer at UCCS and the chair of the political science department at Pikes Peak Community College. He was an instructor at UCCS and at Columbia College in Aurora, Colorado, from 1980 to 1995.

Foster earned his bachelor’s degree in international relations from the University of Kansas, his master’s degree in comparative politics from the University of Colorado Boulder and his Ph.D. in political science from the University of Colorado Boulder.


Headshot of Beth GabbardBeth Gabbard, instructor, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Gabbard was previously an adjunct instructor in the Department of Physical Science at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, Maryland. She also worked as an adjunct instructor in the Department of Science and Technology at Howard County Community College in Columbia, Maryland; and adjunct instructor in the Department of Physical Science at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Gabbard earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Siena College and her master’s degree in analytical chemistry from the University of Arizona.


Headshot of Sheldon GaskellSheldon Gaskell, instructor, Department of English. Gaskell previously served as an adjunct instructor at the University of Colorado Denver. He was a graduate writing instructor, writing tutor coordinator and writing tutor at Western Illinois University, and a teaching consultant at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa.

Gaskell earned his bachelor’s degree in English and creative writing at Cornell College and his master’s degree in English Literature from Western Illinois University.


Headshot of Lisa Hollis-BrownLisa Hollis-Brown, instructor, Department of Biology. Hollis-Brown previously served as an adjunct instructor, assistant professor and chair of the department at Pikes Peak Community College. She also worked as a visiting faculty member at Colorado College and as a teaching assistant at the University of California, Davis.

Hollis-Brown earned her bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from St. John’s College in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and her Ph.D. in ecology from the University of California, Davis.


Cody Kaser, instructor, Department of English. Kaser was previously an adjunct instructor at North Dakota State University. He was also a graduate instructor at North Dakota State and a contract writing tutor and writing instructor at Montana State University-Billings.

Kaser earned his bachelor’s degree in English from Montana State University-Billings and his master’s degree in English from North Dakota State University.


Headshot of Amy KlockoAmy Klocko, assistant professor, Department of Biology. Klocko was previously an instructor at UCCS from 2017-18. She was also a research associate in the Strauss Lab at Oregon State University; an adjunct instructor at Linn-Benton Community College in Albany, Oregon; a postdoctoral associate in the Dolja and Fowler Labs at Oregon State; visiting scientist in the Zarsky Lab at the Institute of Experimental Botany in Prague, Czech Republic; and postdoctoral fellow in the Nielsen Lab at the University Michigan.

Klocko earned her bachelor’s degree in biology at Linfield College and her Ph.D. in plant biology at Washington University in St. Louis.
