Starting Feb. 1, UCCS faculty and staff will be able to call to schedule mental health counseling sessions at no cost through the UCCS HealthCircle Primary Care Clinic at the Lane Center. These visits will be offered on campus, virtually or off campus. Employees will have access to a licensed professional counselor or a licensed clinical social work through funding by the CU system on a first-come, first served basis. Traumatic Loss and Grief Support Group
Offered through the National Institute for Human Resilience and the Veterans Health and Truman Clinic, this group is for UCCS employees every second Wednesday of the month from 3:30-5 p.m. Register by calling (719) 255-8003. For more information, email [email protected].
Resilient Families Academy
2020 was a hard year for everyone, especially those with kids in school. Starting in Mid-February, join the National Institute for Human Resilience and Veterans Health and Trauma Clinic for a free seven-week course for parents and caregivers who want to learn more about ways to build family resilience after experiencing stressful life events. Topics include:
- Resiliency and characteristics of resilient families
- Trauma and its impact on families, parenting, and teens
- Emotions and ways to manage emotions
- Parenting skills
- Boundaries and privacy in families
- Characteristics of healthy families
- Family traditions
Creative Arts
Over the course of the spring semester, UCCS will offer a variety of creative groups to help individuals access their inner strengths through art and writing. Topics and dates are still be finalized.
