New Faculty Representative Assembly officers elected

UCCS Faculty Representative Assembly President Catherine Kelly, associate professor, College of Education, announced results of the election for assembly positions for 2011-2012 at the April 8 meeting.

After a year as president-elect, Katie Kaukinen, associate professor, School of Public Affairs, becomes assembly president. Kelly will remain active on the assembly executive board as past president. (More)

Wisner award to highlight campus ceremony

The 2011 Campus Awards Ceremony will be at 3:30 p.m. May 3 in Berger Hall, and for the first time will feature the Ron Wisner Human Spirit and Leadership Award.

Financial Aid director candidates visit campus

Four candidates interviewing for director of the UCCS Office of Financial Aid and Student Employment visited campus during late March and early April, meeting UCCS leaders, touring the university and answering questions in open forums.

Homer Wesley, vice chancellor, Student Success and Enrollment Management, said the search committee hopes to move quickly in making a selection. (More)

Kraemer Family Library shares its history

The Kraemer Family Library is featuring an exhibit of its history since 1996, when the UCCS library gained its official name.

The second half of a two-part presentation, the newest display focuses on developments in the library since it was named. University officials designated the building the Kraemer Family Library to honor former member of the CU Board of Regents and university benefactor Sandy Kraemer for his many contributions. (More)

Assembly opposes changes in faculty dismissal policy

The UCCS Faculty Assembly opposed proposed changes to a CU System policy regarding dismissal of faculty members for cause at its March 11 meeting.

With a vote of 16 yes, one no, and one abstention, assembly members passed a motion opposing the system-wide Faculty Council’s recommendation on severance pay. (More)

CU visitors gain UCCS perspective

About 20 members of CU System and the CU Boulder campus recently visited UCCS to gain a better understanding of other CU campuses. Participants in the University Perspectives Program met in Dwire Hall March 1 with UCCS administrators to compare and contrast aspects of the Colorado Springs campus with the rest of the system.
