Financial Aid director candidates visit campus

Four candidates interviewing for director of the UCCS Office of Financial Aid and Student Employment visited campus during late March and early April, meeting UCCS leaders, touring the university and answering questions in open forums.

Elaine S. Redwine, director, Financial Aid, Fort Lewis College, Durango, visited UCCS March 29. Since 2004, Redwine has directed financial aid at Fort Lewis College. Prior to this, she directed college-wide financial aid at Front Range Community College in Westminster, managing six sites. She has an MBA in Nonprofit Management from Regis University and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from University of Phoenix. She lives in Durango.

Nancy J. Gray, scholarship director/assistant director, Financial Aid, University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, was on campus March 30. She has served in this position since 1997, and was a financial aid counselor in the Office of Student Financial Resources at UNC for six years before that. Her degrees include a doctorate in Education and Human Resource Studies from Colorado State University, Fort Collins, a master’s in social sciences: sociology from UNC, and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from CU-Boulder. She lives in Greeley.

Michael J. Runiewicz, associate director, Student Financial Services, Washington University in St. Louis, visited UCCS April 5. Associate director since 2006, Runiewicz was assistant director for two years prior to that. He has an MBA with concentration in finance from Georgia State University, Atlanta, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from University of Florida, Gainesville, Fla. He lives in St. Louis.

Jannette P. Swanson, support analyst, PowerFAIDS, the College Board, was on campus April 6. A support analyst for PowerFAIDS software since 2006, Swanson served from 1998-2006 as financial aid associate director at Harvard College, Cambridge, Mass. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and master’s in professional accounting from University of Texas at Austin. Swanson lives in Colorado Springs.

Homer Wesley, vice chancellor, Student Success and Enrollment Management, said the search committee hopes to move quickly in making a selection.

“We hope to make a recommendation in about two weeks,” he said.

Lee Ingalls Noble was named interim director in late January, replacing Robert Bode who resigned. After serving as director of financial aid for 25 years, Noble retired from UCCS in 2009, but came in to fill the position during the national search.
