Jonathan “Jono” Schwan, a Bachelor of Innovation computer science sophomore, placed ninth in the X Games Pacifico Skateboard Vert finals July 19 in Minneapolis.

Schwan qualified for the finals after finishing second place out of 15 in the qualifiers. His best score out of the three runs was 86.

The Colorado Springs native competed against nine other skateboarders in the finals with a best run of 76 points.

Schwan has competed in eight other X Games competitions, bringing home the bronze in the 2010 amateur level.

When Schwan was 13 years old, he created the SK8-Strong foundation. The foundation aims to promote a healthy environment at skate parks and provide opportunities to amateur athletes to improve their skills and make healthy choices.
