Faculty, staff and students quietly marked the 16th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with many visiting a monument near the College of Engineering.

A team of UCCS engineering students led the design of the artifact displays in cooperation with Air Force engineers. Dedicated in 2011, the monument incorporates a beam from the World Trade Center through a globe. The design is intended to show world connections. A similar monument is at the Cheyenne Mountain Air Station. The monument at the military base is not open for public visitors.
