In Memory: Anthony “Q” Wattley

Anthony “Q” Wattley, 55, a supervisory custodian in housing, died unexpectedly of natural causes September 4 at his home.

“Q” joined UCCS in 2014 and recently was promoted from custodian to custodial supervisor. He was veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Survivors include his wife Nicole Wattley, a University Center custodian. Other family members who are part of the UCCS community include his mother-in-law, Cindy Rhoads, compliance officer, Human Resources, and sister-in-law, Allison Milam, accountant, Student Financial Services.

A private, family memorial service is scheduled for Sept. 14. A celebration of life will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 14 in University Center 303.

Faculty, staff and students desiring counseling services should contact the UCCS Wellness Center – Mental Health Service,  255-4444, or the UCCS Human Resources Office, 255-3372.

Nicole Wattley offered the following statement:

I first want to thank everyone for their prayers and positive thoughts through this difficult time.  The kids and I appreciate all of them.  Q will be missed by many.  Q was a great father to his four young children, Sara, Devin, Daniel and Raina and grown son Timothy.  Q was also a great partner in life to me for the short time we were able to spend together.  Even though his time was cut short, his memories will live on.

Q did not just love his family at home but he also loved his UCCS family.  He loved his job and the people he worked with.

I would like everyone to know that Q always told me that he would want to be remembered as being the best person he could be for his family and friends and also being the best employee he could be for UCCS.
