Members of the CU Board of Regents will conduct regular meetings Sept. 10 and 11 at UCCS.
Tentative plans call for the nine-member elected board to meet in public session beginning at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 10 in University Center Room 303. The regents, as part of the Intercollegiate Athletic Committee, will hear presentations by Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak, Steve Kirkham, athletic director, Susan Szpyrka, vice chancellor, Administration and Finance, and Martin Wood, senior vice chancellor, Advancement, until approximately 1 p.m. An executive session not open to the public is scheduled for 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
At 5:30 p.m., the regents and university leaders will have dinner at the Roaring Fork Dining Hall in the new Village at Alpine Valley student housing complex.
Beginning at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 11, the regents will participate in a 9/11 remembrance ceremony near the Engineering Building. The regular meeting will begin at 9 a.m. and is expected to last until 4 p.m. in Berger Hall. At approximately 12:45 p.m., following a host campus report by Shockley-Zalabak, the regents will present a UCCS 50th anniversary resolution.
Several UCCS-specific items are on the agenda including new degrees in athletic training, exercise science, and inclusive elementary education. Andrea Herrera, professor and director, Women’s and Ethnic Studies Program, will also be recognized for the Chase Faculty Community Service Award.
