From April 20 to May 1, a children’s book drive is planned in cooperation with the Kraemer Family Library. University community members are encouraged to donate new or gently used books appropriate for children in elementary school. Donation boxes will be located at the west entrance of the library and at the College of Education dean’s suite on the third floor of Columbine Hall.
The books collected will be given to Project LOGO (Library on the Go) which provides backpacks filled with books to low-income children. Project LOGO is directed by Barbara Swaby, professor emerita, College of Education. More than 170,000 books have been collected and distributed to children in the Pikes Peak Region. For more information, contact Swaby 255-4091.
From April 20 to 24, a showcase of College of Education alumni is planned. Pictures and descriptions of 50 college alumni will be displayed along the pedestrian spine. The goal is to show the myriad of career opportunities open to education graduates and the contributions they are making to the campus and broader community, according to Peggy Laney, faculty liaison and technical writer, College of Education.
