“5 Things You Need to Know” is a virtual series to keep alumni and friends connected with UCCS. In this series, experts on campus will be highlighted through their research and through conversations with community experts. The Alumni Relations Office is committed to lifelong learning and connectivity.
In this episode, Joanna Bean, director of Alumni Relations and the Annual Fund, speaks with Amy Silva-Smith, Ph.D. and professor of nursing, who is on the front lines of teaching tomorrow’s nurses and continuing her research through a Fulbright Scholarship. She expresses how important it is for educators to teach students about working on a team and be strong contributors on a health team. We also learn about Silva-Smith’s own commitment to lifelong learning by training as a contact tracer for El Paso County Public Health.
