UCCS Sport Management students will now be able to pursue professional opportunities with leading sports organizations such as the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche and Colorado Rapids beginning fall 2019.

Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, a Denver-based sports and entertainment holding company, is the national conglomerate of various sporting brands and venues throughout Colorado. Expanding on the initial partnership with the Colorado Rapids, UCCS Sport Management students will now be able to explore career opportunities across a wide array of sports industries.

“We are thrilled to be an official partner with the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche and Colorado Rapids,” said Eric Olson, interim dean of the College of Business. “Whether a student hopes to pursue professional, collegiate, Olympic or recreational sport, we strive to maximize our connections and provide experiential learning opportunities to help each student achieve their dream career. The expansion of our partnership with Kroenke Sports & Entertainment is a direct reflection of our desire to continue growing opportunities within the sport industry.”

The partnership will allow students to pursue their own sport-related research project in a semester-long, student-directed study. Students will receive support throughout their assignment with frequent meetings from representatives of the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche and Colorado Rapids and will conclude with a presentation to senior executives from each professional team.

“The UCCS Sport Management program is consistently producing high quality professionals and we are delighted to offer these students opportunities for development and mentorship,” said Michael Ceilley, Senior Vice President, Partnership Marketing, Media & Digital Sales, Kroenke Sports & Entertainment. “As they develop into polished sports professionals, we benefit from their talents and insights into the sports industry. We are confident that this partnership will be beneficial and rewarding for both parties.”

The UCCS Sport Management Program is a selective degree program designed for serious students who share a passion for the business side of sports and a desire to build careers in a fast-paced industry. Students in the program complete coursework in subjects such as sports marketing, sports law, accounting and finance in small classes taught by doctoral degree-holding university faculty and industry professionals.
