G.I. Jobs magazine and its publisher, Victory Media, named UCCS to its 2013 list of Military Friendly Schools Sept. 17, an honor given to the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that do the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans and families.
This is the fourth year UCCS was named by the magazine to its Military Friendly Schools list.
The list was compiled through extensive research and a data-driven survey of more than 12,000 Veteran’s Administration-approved schools nationwide. The survey results were independently tested by a national accounting firm based upon the weightings and methodology established by G.I. Jobs. The ranking methodology was developed with the assistance of an academic advisory board whose members are professional educators from across the country. UCCS recently created a new Veteran Resource Center in the Forster House to support new military scholarship opportunities, programming for faculty and staff awareness, and a veteran and military -specific orientation program.
A full story and detailed list of 2013 Military Friendly Schools will be highlighted in the annual G.I. Jobs Guide to Military Friend Schools which will be distributed in October to thousands of active duty and former military personnel.
