NFL veteran to help kick off new UCCS program

A former Super Bowl winner and several Olympic executives will help launch a new College of Business program to help new skills in sport industry executives.

The College of Business will offer a Certification in Business Education & Leadership for Sport course July 9-13 as an intensive five-day executive-style seminar for professionals currently working or pursuing work in the sport industry. The program is designed to help participants gain skills and perspectives in management, strategy, customer service and operations.

The program will be taught by UCCS faculty and with assistance from Olympic sport executives Darrin Steele, chief executive officer, USA Bobsled & Skeleton; Glen Werner Roseboom, director, U.S. Olympic Training Center; Pat Kelleher, USA Hockey assistant executive director; and Matt Farrell, chief marketing officer, USA Swimming.

Former NFL player Don Davis will provide a keynote address to participants. Davis, a regional director of the NFL Players Association, played linebacker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, St. Louis Rams, and the New England Patriots where he was a member of 2003 and 2004 Super Bowl-winning teams. Course participants will meet at sites throughout Colorado Springs, including UCCS, the U.S. Olympic Training Center, the Broadmoor, the National Strength & Conditioning Association and the U.S. Olympic Committee headquarters.
