Class of 2018 gives back with more than $3,400 for scholarship funds

Student at commencement moves her tassel

Members of the UCCS class of 2018 set a new participation and giving record among the summer and fall graduating classes with $3,456 from 226 graduates for the annual class gift. The graduates benefited more than 30 scholarship funds.

Started by the Class of 2015, the senior gift has raised more than $28,000 for UCCS students. The goal for the seniors was participation, not a monetary amount, and to “pay it forward” for the next generation of students.

Seniors who gave at least $10 wore a blue contribution cord during the commencement ceremonies Dec. 14.

The summer and fall graduates also included 87 legacy students who are children of UCCS graduates and wore black and gold cords. The Traditions Keeper medal was worn by 83 graduates who completed the Traditions Challenges during their college career.
