UCCS to host NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament

The UCCS Mountain Lion Women’s Soccer Team celebrates its first tournament championship Nov. 5.

UCCS will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer tournament Nov. 10 and 12 at Mountain Lion Stadium.

Teams from Angelo State University and West Texas A&M University will play at 2 p.m. Nov. 10. UCCS will play the winner of that game at 1 p.m. Nov. 12. Both games will be at Mountain Lion Stadium. Admission is free for UCCS students. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students and senior citizens and $3 for children ages 2-12.

The opportunity to host the tournament is a result of the team’s first-ever Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament championship. The team clinched the championship Nov. 5 with a 1-0 win over CSU-Pueblo and had six team members named to the RMAC All-Tournament Team. The team completed the regular season with a 15-4 record. On Nov. 6, the NCAA announced the tournament selections. Team members and coaches watched the announcement at Clyde’s in the University Center.
