New faculty join campus

More than 50 new faculty members joined UCCS this fall.  Today, meet 22 instructors from the College of Business, College of Engineering and Applied Science, College Letters, Arts and Sciences and Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences.


Amanda Batterbee

Amanda Batterbee, instructor, Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Batterbee was previously a psychiatric nurse practitioner for North Springs Psychiatry, Colorado Springs, and a nurse practitioner for Shadow Mountain Behavioral Health, Colorado Springs.  She earned a bachelor’s degree from University of Phoenix, and a master’s from Rush University College of Nursing, Chicago, Illinois.

 

 

 

 


Craig Bubeck

Craig Bubeck, instructor, English Department, College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences. Bubeck was previously an English composition instructor at Ivy Tech Community College, Indianapolis, Indiana, and an English instructor at Colorado Christian University, Lakewood.  He earned a bachelor’s degree from Wheaton College and a master’s degree from State University of New York.

 

 

 

 

 


Steven L. Ferguson

Steven Ferguson, instructor, Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Ferguson was previously an assistant professor at Rogers State University, Claremore, Oklahoma, and adjunct faculty at the University of Oklahoma. He earned a bachelor’s degree from University of Wisconsin-Madison, a master’s degree from Mississippi State University, and a Ph.D. from University of Oklahoma.

 

 

 

 


Heather Fester

Heather Fester, instructor, English Department, College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences. Fester was previously director of the Center for Writing and Scholarship at the California Institute of Integral Studies, San Francisco, California, and an associate professor of English, writing across the curriculum coordinator, and English composition coordinator at Lincoln University, Jefferson City, Missouri. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Truman State University, master’s and Ph.D. degrees from Bowling Green State University, and a master’s of fine arts from Naropa University.

 

 

 

 


Edgar Diaz Herrera

Edgar Diaz Herrera, instructor, Mathematics Department, College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences. Herrera was previously a part time instructor at Grand Rapids Community College, Grand Rapids, Michigan, and a researcher for National Institute of Public Health, Cuernavaca, Mexico. He earned a bachelor’s degree from National University of Mexico, and master’s and Ph.D. degrees from Arizona State University.

 

 

 

 


Li Huang

Li Huang, instructor, Biology Department, College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences. Huang was previously an adjunct professor at Community College of Aurora, and a professor in biological sciences in the School of Pure and Applied Sciences at Florida Southwestern State College, Fort Myers, Florida. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Fudan University, Shanghai, and a Ph.D. from Penn State University.

 

 

 

 


Emily Katseanes

Emily Katseanes, instructor, English Department, College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences. Katseanes was previously an instructor for Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and an adjunct instructor at University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park, Long Beach, Mississippi. She earned a bachelor’s degree from University of Nevada, and a master’s degree from New Mexico State University.

 

 

 

 


Theresa Killebrew

Theresa Killebrew, instructor, Mathematics Department, College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences. Killebrew was previously adjunct faculty online at Mesa Community College, Mesa, Arizona, and residential faculty at Mesa Community College. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona, a master’s degree from Arizona State University, and is currently in the process of completing a master of applied statistics at the University of Colorado.

 

 

 

 


Amy Klocko

Amy Klocko, instructor, Biology Department, College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences. Klocko was previously a research associate at Oregon State University, Corvallis, Oregon, and an adjunct instructor at Linn-Benton Community College, Albany, Oregon. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Linfield College and a Ph.D. from Washington University.

 

 

 

 

 


Jarret Krone

Jarret Krone, instructor, English Department, College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences. Krone was previously assistant director and lecturer of the Writing & Multiliteracy Center at California State University Channel Islands, Camarillo, California, and a lecturer in the English program at California State University Channel Islands. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from California State University, Chico.

 

 

 

 


Benjamin Kwitek, instructor, Bachelor of Innovation Program. Kwitek was previously a part-time instructor of business at Pueblo Community College and a board member and adviser of IP2 at Stanford University, Palo Alto, California. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University, a master’s degree from University of Colorado and a Ph.D. from Colorado State University, Fort Collins.


Suman Lakkakula

Sumanpriya Lakkakula, instructor, Chemistry and Biochemistry Department, College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences. Lakkakula was previously a lecturer at UCCS, and part-time faculty at Pikes Peak Community College. She earned a bachelor’s degree from University of Madras, India, and master’s degrees from Colorado State University and University of Denver.

 

 

 

 


Teresa Littlefield

Teresa Littlefield, clinical instructor, Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Littlefield was previously a part of the mother baby transitional nursery at St. Francis Medical Center, Colorado Springs, and a charge nurse at  Parkview Medical Center, Pueblo.  She earned a bachelor’s degree from Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and a master’s degree from Capella University.

 

 

 

 


Jonathan Marcantoni

Jon Marcantoni, instructor, English Department, College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences. Marcantoni was previously adjunct faculty for UCCS, adjunct faculty at Pikes Peak Community College and a freelance writer and editor. He earned a bachelor’s degree from The University of Tampa and a master’s degree from Tiffin University, Tiffin, Ohio.

 

 

 

 


Lori Mattingly

Lorraine Mattingly, assistant professor/clinical instructor, Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Mattingly was previously a part of the UnitedHealth/OptumHealth’s house call program, and an associate registered nurse for Centura Health System, Colorado Springs. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Christopher Newport University, and master’s and doctor of nursing practice degrees from UCCS.

 

 

 

 


Devin Moeller

Devin Moeller, instructor, Geography and Environmental Studies Department, College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences. Moeller was previously a research scientist at South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, Rapid City, South Dakota, and an instructor at Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois. He earned a bachelor’s degree from University of Central Florida, and master’s and Ph.D. degrees from Northern Illinois University.

 

 

 

 


Thomas O’Malley

Thomas O’Malley, instructor, Accounting and Finance Department, College of Business. O’Malley previously taught for the United States Air Force Academy, and he was a UCCS lecturer . He earned a bachelor’s degree from the United States Air Force Academy, a master’s degree from Air Force Institute of Technology, and a Ph.D. degree from Texas Tech University.

 

 

 

 


David Solly, instructor, Psychology Department, College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences. Solly was previously a professor and core faculty member at the University of the Rockies, Colorado Springs, and dean of Colorado School of Professional Psychology, Colorado Springs. He earned a bachelor’s from West Virginia University, a master’s from Radford University, and a doctoral degree from Virginia Tech.


Damon Tomlin

Damon Tomlin, instructor, Psychology Department, College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences. Tomlin was previously a postdoctoral research associate at Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey, adjunct faculty at University of Denver, and a lecturer at UCCS. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University, and a Ph.D. in neuroscience from Baylor College of Medicine.

 

 

 

 


Ben Wilcox

Ben Wilcox, instructor, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department, College of Engineering and Applied Science. Wilcox was previously an instructor in theoretical aerodynamics and airfoil and wing design at Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas. He earned  bachelor’s and a Ph.D. degree from Texas A&M University.

 

 

 

 

 


Rebecca Wood

Rebecca Wood, instructor, Anthropology Department, College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences. Wood was previously an adjunct faculty member at  Missoula College and the University of Montana, Missoula, Montana. She earned bachelor’s, master’s and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Montana.

 

 

 

 

 


Angela York, clinical instructor, Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences. York was previously a family nurse practitioner for United Health Care/Optum, and a part-time staff member at UCCS. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University, Pueblo, and a master’s degree from UCCS.
