Philosophy teams with library for new lecture series

The Department of Philosophy, in cooperation with Pikes Peak Library District, will continue a community outreach series, "Philosophy at the Library" this spring.

The presentations by UCCS faculty members are from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Penrose Library, 20 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs.

Upcoming events are:

  • March 1, "Images of War and Terrorism," Raphael Sassower, professor, Department of Philosophy.
  • April 5, "Can a Non-Profit Have Virtue," Edward Gray, lecturer, Department of Philosophy.
  • May 3, "All Animals are Equal! Or Are They? An Inquiry into the Nature and Scope of 'Human' Rights," Patrick Yarnell, instructor, Department of Philosophy.

The department launched the series as part of the UCCS 50th anniversary celebrations and agreed to continue the effort for the spring 2016 semester. The events are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Jennifer Jensen, instructor, Department of Philosophy, [email protected].
