Students at the College of Business will benefit from a new scholarship effort designed to ensure tomorrow’s business students have the same opportunities as todays’, college leaders announced Aug. 31.
In honor of UCCS’s 50th anniversary, a College of Business alumnus challenged fellow alumni and the business community to raise $100,000. The alumnus will match up to $50,000 of that total, which when reached will enable this 50th anniversary business scholarship endowment to fund up to four student scholarships each year in perpetuity. The alumnus asked that his name not be shared.
“We are delighted to invite College of Business alumni and the entire Colorado Springs community to celebrate this wonderful occasion with us,” Venkat Reddy, dean, College of Business, said. “For 50 years, our graduates have impacted the Pikes Peak region through their innovation, entrepreneurship and business leadership. Through their giving, the Colorado Springs community will help outstanding students continue this tradition.”
In October, the college will commemorate its 50th anniversary with numerous events bringing together alumni, faculty, staff, students and community members, with the signature event occurring Oct. 2in Dwire Hall, home of the College of Business.
“When I attended the College of Business at UCCS, it was a relatively small campus, yet when you look across the campus now it extends farther and farther,” Brenda Smith, business ’76, said. . “What I’m most proud of today is the impact they’ve had on so many students and so many lives.”
