The Dining and Food Services Department was recently recognized with a gold award in a National Association of College and University Food Services competition.

UCCS Dining and Food services received a gold award for special event residential dining in the medium-size university category. The annual NACUFS Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards are named in honor of a past organization president and recognized innovator in college and university culinary arts. The awards celebrate exemplary menus, presentations, special event planning, and new dining concepts in campus dining services.

This is the first award for Dining and Food Services which is completing its first full year of campus operation. Previously, UCCS used third-party contractors to provide campus food services.

Mark Hayes, director, Dining and Food Services, and Russ Saunkeah, executive chef and associate director, Dining and Food Services, will accept the award at a July 25 national conference in Indianapolis.
