College of Business maintains prestigious AACSB business accreditation

seal_blue_125x125The College of Business maintained its business accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, AACSB officials recently announced.

Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees in business and accounting. AACSB accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education, and has been earned by less than five percent of the world’s business programs. There are 727 business schools in 48 countries and territories that maintain AACSB accreditation. The AACSB accreditation team conducted its assessment Feb, 22-24, meeting with faculty, staff, students and administration. The College of Business received official notification March 31 that its accreditation was extended for another five years.

“It takes a great deal of commitment and determination to earn and maintain AACSB Accreditation,” Robert D. Reid, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International, said. “Business schools must not only meet specific standards of excellence, but their deans, faculty, and professional staff must make a commitment to ongoing continuous improvement to ensure that the institution will continue to deliver the highest quality of education to students.”

Venkat Reddy, dean, College of Business, said: “This mark of distinction is an affirmation of the kind of faculty, staff and administration we have who are in constant pursuit of excellence. The AACSB hallmark of quality is something we are known for in the business community, and our students expect that their degrees reflect the highest standards of business education. It truly matters to them and to their employers.”

AACSB International has as its mission to advance quality management education worldwide through accreditation, thought leadership, and value-added services. As the premier accreditation body for institutions offering undergraduate, master’s, and doctorate degrees in business and accounting, the association also conducts a wide array of conferences and seminar programs at locations throughout the world. AACSB’s global headquarters is located in Tampa, Fla., and its Asia Pacific headquarters is located in Singapore. For more information, visit www.aacsb.edu.
