UCCS celebrated the kickoff of the Hometown Education Resources & Opportunities Empowering Servicemembers (HEROES) Scholarship campaign on August 1, 2024 at Red Leg Brewing Company.
The HEROES Scholarship aspires to provide enrolled active-duty military students with the funding needed to cover the cost of attendance gap between Military Tuition Assistance and UCCS attendance costs. The average gap is currently $3,000 per year.
The scholarship team’s long-term goal is to build an endowment over the next five to six years that will support more than 200 service members each year.
The HEROES Scholarship has already been supported by numerous individual donors as well as organizations including Adolphson & Peterson Construction, Aereti, Inc., Alpine Bank, Bryan Construction, Delta Solutions & Strategies, Navy Federal Credit Union, Red Leg Brewing, U.S. Bank and Ent Credit Union.
