Intellectual wellness involves stimulating the mind, continuously expanding one’s knowledge and staying curious. Intellectually healthy individuals think critically, make decisions reasonably and responsibly, explore new ideas and questions and are open-minded.

There are many ways to enhance and maintain intellectual wellness. Seek out new information through podcasts, reading, television programs and other sources. Attempting a new hobby, sport or activity also expand intellectual health. Engaging in games and puzzles, such as crosswords or Sudoku, is another way to keep the mind sharp. If you have the option, taking classes or attending conferences in subjects that interest you are also beneficial.

If you’re considering a new activity or hobby, Mountain Lion Connect has clubs and events for a variety of interests. For educational resources, Kraemer Family Library has hundreds of books, articles, publications and more accessible to students, staff, faculty and alumni.
