Student artists from the graduating class launched a successful art festival for the community during the 2021 VAPA Arts Festival from May 6 through 9.
Students from the fields of art history, film studies, museum studies, music, theatre and dance, and visual art participated, showcasing a theme around overcoming and coping with the challenges the art community has faced as a result of the pandemic.
“The VAPA festival truly felt like art coming to life. It was amazing to see so many different departments of VAPA come together,” said Sarah Tomovich, a VAPA student who attended the festival. “Not only that, but it just felt like there were a ton of different people from the community that came together at this festival to experience the same artwork. I will definitely be attending again in the future, especially as the whole festival is curated by my fellow students and friends.”
The annual event, which started in 2017, returned to an in-person format in 2021. You can see a gallery of photos from the event, including featured exhibits from Theatreworks and the Galleries of Contemporary Arts below.
