UCCS students and members of the Office of Sustainability sifted through a day’s worth of trash Tuesday to determine which items should have been recycled or composted. Event organizers hoped to raise awareness for campus sustainability efforts.
According to the Office of Sustainability, on average, UCCS could have recycled more than 50 percent of its trash on a daily basis. Items not being recycled include plastic water bottles, aluminum cans, and all forms of paper.
