Faculty, staff, students and alumni are encouraged to share brief words of advice with new freshman as part of a video project under production by the Office of Alumni Relations.
Brief isn’t just a suggestion. There’s a six word limit to the submissions that Jennifer Hane, director, Office of Alumni Relations, hopes to use to inspire new students.
“The goal of the project is two-fold,” Hane said recently. “We want to engage alumni in the life of the university and allow current students to provide tips and messages of encouragement to the Class of 2017.”
Photos from UCCS alumni are also being accepted but it’s the words that Hane, who earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from UCCS in 2001, finds the most surprising. In such tight confines, some are able to convey action and passion.
“Do things. Opportunities will find you” was one early submission. Another was “Start Speaking. Be Relevant. Have Fun.” A third opined “Success is doing what you love.”
All submissions will be considered for use in the video and Hane will provide a t-shirtas thanks to those who share their thoughts. To submit six words of advice, visit http://www.uccs.edu/alumni/sixword.html
