Colorado Commission on Higher Education approves campus facilities plan

By a unanimous vote, the members of the Colorado Commission on Higher Education approved on Thursday a new UCCS Facilities Master Plan.

Gary Reynolds, executive director, Facilities Services, and Brian Burnett, vice chancellor, Administration and Finance, presented the 10 –member board with an overview of the 2012 master plan that provides comprehensive guidelines for the future physical development of the campus. The campus is required by law to provide an update to its physical plan every decade and to have plans approved by the CCHE. The plan was previously approved by the CU Board of Regents.

The last UCCS facilities update was in 2007. While UCCS was not required to resubmit its plan now, doing so made sense, Burnett said. The facilities plan was developed in concert with a new, overall strategic plan for the university.
