CU School of Medicine Colorado Springs Branch honors outstanding physician teachers

The University of Colorado School of Medicine and the El Paso County Medical Society Powered by ProPractice will celebrate the recipients of the 2018-19 Outstanding Faculty and Clinical Liaisons of the Year Awards. Shanta Zimmer, MD, senior associate dean for education at CU School of Medicine, and Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers, will present the honors during the recognition ceremony April 1 from 5:30-8:30 pm in Berger Hall.

The evening will begin with a poster session and reception featuring current third-year medical student quality improvement and community leadership projects, followed by faculty and student project awards. At the end of the ceremony, there will be a nonverbal communication session presented by Dennis Boyle, MD, in which attendees are eligible to receive one COPIC ERS point. Faculty at the CU School of Medicine work to advance science and improve care. These faculty members include physicians, educators and scientists at University of Colorado Health, Children’s Hospital Colorado, Denver Health, National Jewish Health and the Denver Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The school is located on the Anschutz Medical Campus. The school’s Colorado Springs Branch began providing clinical learning experience for 24 third-year medical students.
