Board of Regents encourages award nominations

The CU Board of Regents is soliciting nominations for the university’s highest honors including honorary degrees, university medal and distinguished service awards.

Nov. 15 is the deadline for nominations for the 2013 awards.

The honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters and Doctor of Science is the highest award the University of Colorado bestows and serves as recognition of outstanding achievement in intellectual contributions, university service or public service.

University medals are awarded in recognition of achievements and contributions associated with the university. Distinguished service awards are awarded in recognition of achievement associated with the state or nation.

Award nominations must be submitted on the award nomination form and be supported by three to five letters of recommendation. The nominator must provide the recommendation letters and the nominee’s current curriculum vitae, address and telephone number, according to Pat O’Rourke, vice president, University Counsel, and secretary, CU Board of Regents.

Guidelines for Nomination

  • Individuals cannot nominate themselves.
  • Current university employees are not eligible.
  • Current public officials (elected or appointed) are not eligible. Public officials may be nominated two years after the completion of their terms.
