There are 24 new tenured or tenure-track faculty members who joined UCCS this fall.
In the next few editions of Communique, brief profiles of the new faculty will be published. This week’s introductions include eight new assistant professors.
Geoffrey R. Ashton, assistant professor, Department of Philosophy, College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. He previously was the Johnston Visiting Professor of Philosophy at Whitman College, Walla Walla, Wash. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Loyola Marymount University, a master’s from the University of Chicago, and master’s and Ph.D. from the University of Hawaii, Manoa.
Cheryl Kelly, assistant professor, Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences. She previously was an assistant professor at the Saint Louis University School of Public Health. She earned master’s degrees from St. Louis University and the University of Iowa and a Ph.D. from Saint Louis University.
Anna Kosloski, assistant professor, School of Public Affairs. She previously taught courses in sociology at Iowa State University and Iowa Central Community College. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota, Morris, and master’s and Ph.D. from Iowa State University.
Karen Livesey, assistant professor, Department of Physics and Energy Science, College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. She previously worked as postdoctoral fellow for the Australian Resources Research Center, Western Australia, and was a research associate for UCCS Department of Physics and Energy Science. She earned a bachelor’s degree and Ph.D. from the University of Western Australia.
Leann Wyrick-Morgan, assistant professor, College of Education. She previously was an assistant professor at the University of Texas, Tyler, and an adjunct faculty member at Adams State College and the University of Northern Colorado. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University, a master’s from DePaul University and Ph.D. from the University of Northern Colorado.
Emily Nusbaum, assistant professor, College of Education. She previously was an assistant professor in the special education program at California State University, Fresno, and an instructor at San Francisco State University and California State University, Hayward. She earned a bachelor’s degree from College of the Holy Cross, a master’s from Boston College, and Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, and San Francisco State University.
Jia Rao, assistant professor, College of Engineering and Applied Science. He previously was a research assistant and postdoctoral researcher at Wayne State University. He earned a master’s degree from Wuhan University, Wuhan, China, and Ph.D. from Wayne State University.
Jane Rigler, assistant professor, Department of Visual and Performing Arts, College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, previously was a senior instructor in the department in addition to positions with the Manhattan New Music Project and the Lincoln Center Institute in New York. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University, and master’s and Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego.
