The CU Aging Center received the Joe Henjum Senior Accolades Award from the Senior Resource Center during an Aug. 3 ceremony at the Garden of the Gods Club, Colorado Springs.
The Aging Center received recognition for its integrated mental health care efforts in coordination with Peak Vista Community Health Centers.
Following an Air Force career, Joe Henjum was active in the Colorado Springs volunteer community. He founded the Senior Resource Council and served as a member of the Colorado Commission on Aging and was president of the Colorado Mobility Coalition and the Colorado Springs Citizens Transportation Advisory Board in addition to leadership positions in many other organizations.
“This award is a nice testimony to the partnership that we have with Peak Vista, the Aging Center, and the people doing the work to provide integrated health care services,” Mike Kenny, director, CU Aging Center, said. “We have a great team.”
