UCCS selects experienced admissions professional

Mathew Cox

A career college enrollment management professional will lead student recruitment, admissions, and record keeping functions at UCCS.

Mathew Cox, currently vice president for admissions and financial aid at Brevard College, Brevard, N.C., was selected as director of enrollment management following a national search. His appointment was announced June 1 by Homer Wesley, vice chancellor, Student Success and Enrollment Management.

“Mathew brings nineteen years of experience at both public and private universities to UCCS,” Wesley said. “He began his career in student affairs as a tour guide and worked his way to vice president but he’s never forgotten the importance of being student-focused in the delivery of higher education.”

Since 2009, Cox has served as vice president at Brevard, a private liberal arts college affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Previously, he served as dean of enrollment management at Millsaps College, Jackson, Miss., and in several admissions-related positions including director of recruitment and admissions at the University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg, Miss. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi.

“I look forward to working with the dedicated, professional staff at UCCS,” Cox said. “UCCS is a great institution that is located in an amazing city that I believe will be a good fit for me and my family.”

At Southern Mississippi, Millsaps, and Brevard, Cox was active in many campus-wide committees including academic policy, strategic planning, athletics, student recruitment, marketing, and alumni relations.

Cox will begin work at UCCS July 16.
