UCCS Police remind motorists of campus speed limits in latest video

Sgt. Lisa Dipzinski provides an overview of why speed limits on campus are set where they are in the UCCS Police Department’s Safety Tip Tuesday video released on social media Feb. 12.

In parking garages, the speed limit if 5 mph, and in the other parking lots, the speed limit is 10 mph Sgt. Dipzinski also reminded motorists that the speed limit on Austin Bluffs Parkway is 40 mph, and police routinely ticket drivers going 20 mph over the limit.

“I know it seems really slow, but the reason for that is the safety of pedestrians,” Dipzinski said in the video. “If you don’t, and you’re going 15 or 20 miles per hour in the garage, you could receive a ticket for careless driving as well as speeding.”

The UCCS Police Department employs 17 sworn, state-certified and commissioned peace officers in addition to five campus service and housing security officers.
