UCCS looks to build ties with Korean university

Representatives from Korea National University of Education and UCCS formally agreed recently to begin working toward a partnership to bring Korean students to study at UCCS.

Mary Snyder, dean, College of Education, Peg Bacon, provost, and Pam Shockley-Zalabak, chancellor, signed an agreement to collaborate with Kwon Jaesool, president, KNUE, in the development of three specific programs. A KNUE delegation visited UCCS Feb. 9 and 10.

The programs include intensive English courses for KNUE students at UCCS and a program where KNUE students begin a master’s program in Korea and complete a master’s in teaching English to speakers of other languages at UCCS. A third program looks to  establish a joint training center on the KNUE campus for English as a second language instruction and preparation for educators entering public school systems in both countries.
