The Flobots, one of the most popular Denver-based rock and hip-hop bands, will perform at UCCS Sept. 17.
Fresh from their March 2010 album “Survival Story,” the Flobots will continue their tradition of outstanding live performances coupled with strong social awareness themes. The band traces its roots to 2000 and is best known for a top five single, “Handlebars” in April 2008. The band has appeared on “The Tonight Show,” “Conan O’Brien,” and “Carson Daly.”
Opening for the six-member Flobots will be K. Flay and Air Dhubai. The show starts at 8 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Gallogly Events Center in the center of the UCCS campus. Tickets are $10 for UCCS students; $15 for UCCS faculty and staff or those who have student or military identification. General admission tickets are $20. “It is exciting to have bands of this caliber play UCCS,” Mitch Karstens, assistant director, Office of Student Activities, said. “All three bands have reputations for being awesome live performers. Together, they are going to make a great show.”
The Flobots members, include Jonny 5 and Brer Rabbit, vocals; Andy Rok, guitar; Jesse Walker, bass; Kenny Ortiz, drums; Mackenzie Roberts, viola and vocals.

The concert is part of continuing UCCS efforts to provide programming of interest to current UCCS students. In recent years, popular bands such as 3OH!3 and the Decemberists have played the campus.
