www.uccs.edu front page gets new look

UCCS homepage screenshotThe UCCS website, www.uccs.edu, received a facelift this week to create a more user-friendly experience while showcasing the campus.

In a campus-wide email, Jerry Wilson, executive director, Information Technology, announced the change effective April 20. The change followed a weeklong preview where more than 400 people shared their feedback of the redesigned front page, with most supporting the change. The appearance of the front page was also migrated to the pages for prospective students, faculty and staff, alumni, and parents.

The redesign was led by Craig Decker, IT professional, and Kirk Moore, IT professional, with assistance from other IT staff members and the Office of University Advancement. The group consulted with the Office of Admission Services and a marketing expert as part of the design process.

The new look incorporates the updated CU brand identity standards and highlights campus beauty with the goal of attracting prospective students. The last large-scale change to the campus web page was more than three years ago.

Following the launch of the new front page, IT and University Advancement staff members will continue refinement of frequently visited sites and begin work on a second phase to incorporate further improvements. IT plans to unveil a new content management system to assist departments in improving department and faculty websites later this summer.
