UCCS Police remind pedestrians of jaywalking violation

Pedestrians could face a fine of $75 if they jaywalk across Austin Bluffs Parkway. UCCS Police remind students, faculty and staff of the violation in the Aug. 28 video posted on their Facebook page as part of a series of public service videos.

“Right in front of the recreation center is mainly where people are jaywalking,” Lisa Dipzinski, sergeant, UCCS Police, said. “It does extend towards the UCCS entrance as well.”

The two legal crossways are located at Stanton Road and Austin Bluffs Parkway and University of Colorado Drive and Austin Bluffs Parkway.

UCCS police officers enforce municipal and state laws on campus and in the surrounding area through an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Colorado Springs. The department employs 17 sworn, state-certified and commissioned peace officers in addition to five campus service and housing security officers.

  1. Is this university or kindergarten? I understand the importance of the message… just wondering if you can’t treat those involved with the university as if they are intelligent adults, rather than elementary school children.
