Frank Hammitt, UCCS risk management, is seeking participants for an afternoon program to educate children about the contributions of veterans.
Hammitt told Communique the social director at the Rosemont Apartments is planning a children’s veterans’ appreciation activity for 3:30 p.m. Nov. 6. She wants to enlighten the students in the complex regarding veterans and their service. An informal reception will follow the program.
The basic idea, Hammitt said, is for a brief “What did I do?” and “Why do we care about our veterans?” presentation. He’s looking for vets from various eras and services who would be willing to take part, and “if we can get some more recent vets or active duty, it would even be better,” he said. Veterans with uniforms they can still fit into are especially wanted, he added.
Hammitt will brief the participants in the “show & tell” presentation. The apartment complex is at 220 Shadow Ridge Grove, on the west side of north Nevada Ave., north of Senior Manuel’s. To volunteer, or for more information, contact Hammit at [email protected].
