Faculty assembly urges climate change action

David Havlick

With a 30-0 vote, the UCCS Faculty Assembly approved a resolution at its Nov. 10 meeting urging climate change action.

David Havlick, professor, Geography and Environmental Studies Department, introduced the resolution and its key messages that climate change is human caused, agreed upon by scientific organizations and calling for collaboration to address climate change effects.

“As teachers and scholars, we saw this an imperative moral, ecological and economic issue,” Havlick said.

Discussion was spurred by recent White House action to withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord, he said.
