Bernard has got a great thing going. He’s a successful architect at home in Paris, 1965, with his three fiancées, just not at the same time. Each fiancée is an air hostess, so Bernard can spend two days with Gloria before she takes off for San Francisco. Then Gabriella arrives, after she leaves for Caracas, Gretchen flies in from Stuttgart. Each fiancée happily believes she’s the only one. It’s a perfect scheme for the moment. When the airlines introduce a fast new jet and an old friend arrives, there’s trouble in Paris, trouble amounting to the delirious chaos only a great farce and a seven door set can produce. It’s all on view in the Theatreworks revivial of Marc Camoletti’s “Boeing Boeing”, playing Jan. 20-Feb. 13 at the Dusty Loo Bon Vivant Theater.
“Boeing Boeing” features a cast of distinguished regional actors, all perfectly equipped for some high flying antics. Chad Siebert is the handsome Bernard, a preening peacock primed for a fall. Matthew Mueller is his friend from the country, arriving just in time for Bernard’s best laid plans to go haywire. Diana Dresser is Bertha, Bernard’s long suffering maid. Adrian Eglof is the healthy sexy American fiancée flying on TWA. Jamie Anne Romero is the exuberant sexy fiancée arriving on Air Italia. And look out for Jessica Jackson, the dominating sexy fiancée from Lufthansa. Under the direction of David McLendon, this sextet promises a real lift off for the new year. The lighting is by Tonya Moake, the set design by Roy Ballard, and the perfectly tailored costumes by Jan Avramov.
Boeing Boeing plays through Feb. 13 at the Dusty Loo Bon Vivant Theater in University Hall. There are evening performances Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. with Saturday Matinees at 2:00 p.m. Jan. 29, Feb. 5 and 12. Sunday performances are at 4 p.m. on Jan. 30, Feb. 6 and 13.
