Pups lighten load during Pause for Paws

UCCS alumna Lisa Craig brought her wire-haired dachshund, Gracie, to the Kraemer Family Library.

UCCS students gave belly rubs and got puppy kisses during two Pause for Paws study breaks at Kraemer Family Library May 3 and 4.

Students made their way around a blocked-off area of the library where about a dozen dogs of all shapes and sizes, along with their handlers, greeted students.

UCCS alumna Lisa Craig brought her wire-haired dachshund, Gracie, to the event. Craig received Gracie as a graduation gift from her husband in 2013 when she completed her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling. Gracie earned her therapy dog certification last week, and “Pause for Paws” was her first official assignment.

A third Paws for Paws event happens 11 a.m.-1 p.m. May 8.
