As it has since 2007, UCCS set another record enrollment this fall with 11,299 students enrolled in six colleges across the campus.
According to figures prepared by the Office of Institutional Research and shared with the campus Sept. 15, UCCS enrollment increased 152 students or 1.4 percent from last year when UCCS broke the 11,000 student barrier. Again this year, more than 1,600 freshmen enrolled, continuing a trend that began in 2014. Student credit hours increased by 1.5 percent.
Classes began Aug. 24. The official census date was Sept. 11.
“I am appreciative of the significant efforts of many to ensure that UCCS continues to recruit and retain students who have the potential to do great things,” Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak said. “We must continue to emphasize the great value that UCCS provides and the difference education makes in lives.”
For fall 2015, 11,299 students enrolled, a 152 student or 1.4 percent increase from the 11,147 students enrolled for fall 2014. For fall 2015, student credit hours increased to 130,894, a 1,953 hour or 1.5 percent increase, from the 128,941 hours generated in fall 2014. Credit hour activity is computed by multiplying the number of course credit hours by the number of students enrolled in the course.
For fall 2015, 9,618 students enrolled in undergraduate courses, a 233 student or 2.5 percent increase from the 9,385 undergraduates who enrolled in fall 2014. The College of Business, College of Education, College of Engineering and Applied Science, Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences and the School of Public Affairs all posted increases in undergraduates enrolled.
Graduate student enrollment declined. For fall 2015, there were 1,553 graduate students enrolled, a 58 student or 3.6 percent decline from the 1,611 graduate students enrolled in fall 2014.Non degree seeking graduate students also declined. For fall 2015, there were 128 non degree seeking graduate students, a 23 student or 15 percent decline from the 151 who enrolled for fall 2014.
Enrollment of minority students increased for fall 2015. About 31 percent of UCCS undergraduates self-identify as a member of an ethnic minority group. About 18 percent of graduate students are ethnic minority group members.
