Ali AlShami and Ryan Rabinowitz organized The First Workshop on Out-of-Label Hazards in Autonomous Driving (COOOL) at the Winter Conference on Applications of Computer Vision (WACV) 2025 - Tucson, Arizona, on March 4, 2025.
The workshop encouraged researchers to address the limitations of current approaches for avoiding hazards on the road by proposing new algorithms and systems that advance the field, in particular with solutions inspired by novelty-adjacent areas such as Anomaly Detection, Open-Set Recognition, Open Vocabulary and Domain Adaptation.
The schedule included six keynote speakers. Presentations were also made from participants in the dataset challenge including UCCS master’s student Nachiket Kamod and alumni Akshat Ghiya (‘24).
The students are advised by Jugal Kalita and Terrance Boult. The UCCS Computer Science Department provided partial funding for the workshop.
