More than 100 staff members enjoyed breakfast and heard about opportunities to get involved in various university committees during the All-Staff Breakfast Sept. 4.
Phillip Jones, administrative assistant, Admissions Services, and staff council president, welcomed staff and introduced Susan Szpyrka, vice chancellor, Administration and Finance. Szpyrka encouraged staff to get involved in campus activities including the upcoming 50th Anniversary celebrations. She also emphasized the importance of faculty and staff governance organizations in the operation of the university.
Other speakers detailed specific programs included
- Brad Johnson, project manager, Facilities Services. Johnson outlined various staff council committees.
- Ali LaForce, executive assistant, Office of Sponsored Programs. LaForce spoke about the importance of professional development.
- Sheryl Botts, executive assistant, Office of the Provost. Botts explained the Staff Extra-Enrichment and Development Subsidy.
- Ida Dilwood, director, Office of Disability Services. Dilwood gave an overview of blood donation drives at UCCS.
- Amanda Koback, program manager, Dean of Students Office. Koback gave an overview of Clyde’s Cupboard, a new food pantry for needy students.
- Sabrina Weinholtz, assistant director, Office of Student Life and Leadership. Weinholtz asked for assistance in planning a spring semester staff lunch.
- Mary Lile, accountant, Office of Resource Management. Lile gave an overview of the Holiday Service Project which benefits needy students, faculty and staff during the holidays.
