Philosophy JEDI Speaker Series: The Hoax of White Innocence with Dr. George Yancy

  • The Division of Inclusive Culture & Belonging, in partnership with the Philosophy Department, is hosting a Philosophy JEDI Speaker Series with Dr. George Yancy from Emory University as our guest speaker. In this talk, “The Hoax of White Innocence,” Dr. Yancy will explore how whiteness implicates white people within the dynamics of anti-Blackness or racism. The objective is not to force white people to wallow in guilt, but to invite white people to think critically, courageously, and vulnerably about how whiteness is a relational and binary structure, one that is entangled with anti-Blackness or racism. Symphony 21: UCCS Symphony Orchestra – The Great Mystery

  • For their Fall 2024 concert, the UCCS Orchestra, Symphony21 explores the Great Mystery, or “when we ask why”, through the lens of orchestral music by Bach, Faure, Koji Kondo, Charles Ives and more. This performance is combined with an earlier Junior Recital with Jake Carter, which begins at 7:30 p.m. Symphony 21 concert will begin at 8 p.m. Performance is free and open to all but ticket reservation is required.

  • Join the Creative Music Ensemble as we explore a variety of traditionally notated, text, graphic, and other types of scores germane to the avant-garde and experimental musical traditions from the mid-twentieth century to the present. UCCS Guitar Night Featuring the Sagitta Ensemble

  • The Sagitta Guitar Ensemble, based at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, and under the direction of Dr. Colin McAllister, performs regularly throughout the Pikes Peak region. Their repertoire represents a range of styles and diverse compositional voices from the Renaissance to the present. The ensemble debuted in February 2024, with members: Josh Abernathy, Jorden Gershon, Cooper Gorospe, Colin McAllister, and Lonnie Thompson.
