In partnership with the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, UCCS is launching a 3+4 Doctor of Pharmacy program.
In the only program of its kind in the region, incoming freshmen and transfer students will attend UCCS for three years in the in the health sciences program before transferring to CU Pharmacy for four years.
Students in the program will receive a BS in Health Sciences from UCCS after their first year at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and a Pharm. D. from CU Pharmacy at the completion of the program. Not only is this program a dedicated pipeline into doctoral work in pharmaceuticals, it will serve as an open door for qualified students into a selective Pharm. D. program — ranked 15th in the Nation by US News and World Report and the only public Pharm. D. program in Colorado.
But the course of study is not the only quality that makes this program truly unique: students will receive dedicated support throughout the entirety of their academic journey.
Students will receive specialized individual advising from both UCCS and CU Pharmacy while at UCCS, with continued advising from CU Pharmacy after transferring. Students will also be eligible for some financial support granted by CU Anschutz.
Students in this program will be equipped with the tools they need to succeed while at UCCS and CU Pharmacy, and when entering the professional field. Co-curricular seminars, in-person community events and yearly luncheons are designed to build a network of support; and connections to community mentors and a wide network of CU Pharmacy alumni to foster professional development.
As a multi-model program with the majority of undergraduate and graduate coursework online, students will have ready access to achieving their Pharm. D., enabling them to provide both expertise in pharmaceutical practices as well as secondary healthcare in communities that do not have easy access to healthcare.
