The UCCS campus took part in The Unity Project last week, a three-day celebration of community and belonging as part of Gather and Grow week.
Gather and Grow is a week filled with events to encourage students to come together and find social connections and enhance sense of belonging on campus. The concept is based off the Colorado native tree, the aspen. One aspen tree is linked to a larger organism, with the roots of the aspens all connecting underground in an extensive root system. Like the aspen tree, a social connection begins with individuals that come together to create strong and healthy bonds.
This vibrant community art project was designed to illustrate campus individuality and diversity, while also demonstrating the many things we have in common. Together, students, faculty and staff made a beautiful web of connections and community, celebrating their unique identities and how those identities can strengthen ties to each other and reinforce social connections here at UCCS.
This community art project was last completed in 2017.
