Innovative furniture pilot project transforms Kraemer Family Library space

A new study space in the library

The Kraemer Family Library is excited to announce the launch of a new furniture pilot project. This project has introduced over 15 new types of furniture to the library space, aiming to enhance the learning environment and provide students with greater flexibility and comfort. The new furniture selections were carefully curated to foster collaboration, individual study and relaxation, making the library a more versatile and welcoming environment.

Among the new additions are modular seating arrangements that can be easily reconfigured for group work or solo study. Soft seating options, including bean bags and lounge chairs, have also been introduced to create comfortable relaxation spots where students can unwind between classes. High-top tables and stools offer a more casual seating option, encouraging informal discussions and collaboration.  The library also now has two study pods equipped with noise-reducing features, providing an ideal setting for focused work.

The selection of the new furniture was driven by feedback from students. The most common requests included more comfortable seating, better support for group work and the new study carrels for undisturbed study. These insights played a crucial role in guiding the selection and placement of the new furniture pieces. By providing a more comfortable and adaptable environment, the library hopes to support students’ academic success and overall well-being.

The Kraemer Family Library invites all students, faculty, staff and community members to explore the new furniture options. In October, the library plans to gather additional feedback using online surveys within the updated space to assess the impact of the new furniture. This feedback will be invaluable in determining the future direction of the library’s space and identifying any areas for further improvement.
